How Do I Connect With My Spirit Guides?

One of the biggest questions I get asked on a regular basis is “how I connect with my spirit guides?” Well I have good news for you, it's a lot easier than you think. And when you do make that connection you'll see  an immediate improvement in your life.

Would you like that? Imagine this…

Imagine you're traveling somewhere. You're driving a car Down the dirt road and you find yourself at a crossroads, without a map or a clue where you're going. You are absolutely lost.

But standing at the corner is a friendly manner woman who happily points you in the right direction.

That's what your spirit guides can do for you.

However, here's what spirit guides can't do: they can't make you listen, nor can they force you to take action.

Your free will is yours and yours alone to do with as you please.

Here Are 2 Easy Steps To Connecting With Your Spirit Guides

1. You Are Already Connected To Your Spirit Guides.

I have good news for you! You are already connected with your guides! 

Each and everyone of us have spirit guides. Everyone has at least one guide, some have many guides. Just know this: You don't have to do anything to connect with your guides.

Your guides have been with you since you took your very first breath and they will be with you until you take your last.

That step was easy! Step one: there's nothing to do! LOL. You are already connected. Seriously.

But Blair, how do I know I have guides? 

Have you ever heard the expression “my conscience is my guide”? Well, Guess what? Your conscience IS your guide. 

That's why when you do something wrong and nobody sees you your conscience gets the better of you. That discomfort you feel is your guides letting you know you have taken a bad step.

So, here's step two.

2. Ask Your Spirit Guides For Signs

Your guides understand you better than anyone. So why not take advantage of that and make the most of it?

Your guides have been assigned to you since birth to help you through your lifetime to live your life to the fullest and be the happiest you could possibly be.

It's as simple as asking your guidance to give you direction in your daily life. Ask your guides for signs.

While guides will not perform tricks for you, they'll understand that you are unsure of them at the beginning. It's only natural, Especially if you've lived your whole life without trusting in them. So ask them for some signs.

Seriously, Blair? Can it really be THAT easy?

Answer: yes. Start trusting in your guides. That inner voice. The direction.

Be open to the signs you receive. The signs are often subtle and appear as coincidences, so knowledge them when you find them. In essence you'll be developing a new relationship with your guide that will leads ultimately to a happier and more fulfilled life!

In last week's article regarding Mindfulness Meditation: Follow Your Breath we discovered a quick and very easy way to calm your mind and get grounded.

The technique is simple and easy, and simply requires you to… well… follow your breath!

2 Advanced Mindfulness Meditation Techniques

One ‘complaint' that some give when first practicing this technique is that thoughts keep popping into their heads.

  • I've got to call John at 3:00PM!
  • Where did I leave my keys?
  • What should we have for dinner?
  • I'm worried about Aunt Mary..

I'm going to teach you a trick: the harder you try NOT to think of something, the more powerful that thought becomes!

1. Control Your Thoughts Easily

Try NOT to think of a big gorilla right now. Do NOT think of a big gorilla… especially eating a banana…

What are you thinking of right now?

Right. A gorilla eating a banana.

So, here's the Zen trick: when a thought pops into your mind, I want you to OBSERVE it. Notice it. See it.

Then… let it go. And continue to focus on your breathing.

It does take a wee bit of practice to do, but it is very easy. And it works! The bottom line is that you are literally taking back control of your mind and YOU are deciding when and where these thoughts play in your day.

So, as you take a few moments to follow your breath, you are conditioning your mind to slow down and you are paying attention to the most important thing in the world at the moment: YOU.

Again, let me say this: the first time I tried it, my thoughts were overwhelming. But after a couple of days of practicing mindful meditation, it became easy to *stop* the thoughts for a few moments and to recharge. I immediately felt better.

Try it.

2. The Spiritual Connection

When your mind and body are at peace, that's the time that literally awakens spirit and allows your spirit guides to give you guidance and direction!

In today's day and age, we are so busy we don't even see life as it passes by. We are far too busy. And when we are too busy we miss opportunities to connect with loved ones, friends and others. And, that means we are far too busy to connect with our God-given spirit guides.

Well, guess what? By pausing… by taking a moment from time-to-time in your day, you open yourself up to spirit making a connection with you.

Best part? You don't have to “do” anything. It will just happen.

Isn't that cool? By practicing mindful meditation and following your breath, you'll slow down, even if just briefly. You'll feel better. More connected. Grounded.

Your mind will be clearer, you'll feel happier and more empowered. And, your senses will be more open and you'll start getting more intuitive flashes–messages from your spirit guides–and you'll find that you are instantly getting better results in all areas of your life!

Wow! That's pretty awesome. So, give it a try. And if it doesn't work instantly, remember you aren't ‘broken' and there's nothing to fix. Like anything, give it a few tries to achieve the benefits.

Mindfulness Meditation: An Introduction

We live in a society of overwhelm.  It's no wonder there is so much stress–we are so busy that we don't even have time to think, let alone ‘live'. 

Wendy and I were recently in a fine dining restaurant and to my surprise, beside us a good looking young couple sat across from each other and both of them texted until the meal was served. No chatting, no loving looks. They were too busy for that. And, I might add, they both looked stressed. A sign of the times, I guess.

Life is busy and chaotic. Our lives are filled with overload. It's one of the top complaints I get from coaching clients who are desperately trying to remove this block.

Well. There's good news. One of the very best techniques for ‘quieting your mind' is Mindfulness Meditation. It's extremely easy to do, works extremely well (and quickly) and is incredibly refreshing. My clients love it and I know you will too.

Follow Your Breath

How easy is it? Well, if you are reading this I'm assuming that you are breathing, here's all you need to do: follow your breath.

Imagine you can see your breath–like when it's cold outside. Simply stop what you are doing, close your eyes and imagine you can see your breath going in through your nose and down into your lungs.

When you exhale, imagine you can see your breath leaving through your mouth.

You don't need to slow your breathing or take deep breaths. All you need to do is… breathe. Follow your breath in, and then follow it out.

It's easy. You simply pay attention to your breathing, and nothing else.

In essence, you are concentrating on you and life itself, aren't you?

Try it. It works very well. Do this relaxing exercise any time you feel overwhelm. It's easy to do, and you'll enjoy how relaxed and refreshed you'll feel doing it.

Get Rid Of The Drama In Your Life!

drama If there's one thing I see often during my mediumship readings or psychic readings is this: far too many people are putting up with DRAMA that they need not deal with!

Here's a tip: avoid drama like it's a plague that will kill you!

One of the best bits of advice: stop reading/watching/listening to the news… do you really need to hear about the latest murder, political screw-up, rape, fear-mongering? Ask yourself, “how does this improve my life?”

Is there someone in your life that's always negative and down, no matter how much you try to help them?

Avoid them. Walk away.

People gossiping at the office about so-and-so? Walk away.

Eliminating Drama Makes Room For A Happier Spiritual YOU

Spirit ardently wants you to live your life to the fullest: to be, do and have all you want. Spirit also wants you to be positive and VIBRANT, NOT negative and blue!

Today, more than ever, media is coming at us from all directions. We live in a terribly “noisy” world, where most of that noise is pure negativity.

Meditation can “quiet the mind,” but you need not get into the lotus position and hum to do it! You can quiet your mind by simply shutting off much of the crap that is spewing at you.

Last night, my wife and I went for dinner. Across from us was a young couple who–for the entire dinner–didn't speak, but instead were on their phones messaging others.

This couple truly missed the opportunity to be together, to enjoy the meal and to enjoy life.

Stop the drama. Start living.
