Ottawa–Ottawa based Canadian mindreader Blair Robertson says he’s 99% sure of the outcome of the October 14th Federal election. He’s written down his prediction, sealed it in an envelope and placed it in a fireproof safe. The safe is now on display at the Chapters bookstore on Rideau Street in downtown Ottawa… steps away from Canada’s parliament buildings.

The safe will remain there until October 15th when it will be opened and Robertson’s prediction compared to the actual results. Robertson has been making predictions for 15 years, his first major hit occurred in 1993 when he predicted the Liberal landslide win and got it right down to the exact number of seats.
Robertson doesn’t claim to be infallible. He’s missed by a few seats on several elections, but his predictions are still remarkably accurate.
Why is he doing it? “Elections are a serious time and I just enjoy doing something off-beat and fun as a personal challenge,” says Robertson, who is a professional corporate entertainer by trade.
“The number of seats just kept ringing around in my head… I even went for a walk at 3:00am this morning because I couldn’t sleep. By morning, I was extremely confident that it will turn out correct!”
The safe containing the prediction is located behind the cash at Chapters Bookstore, 47 Rideau Street, Ottawa. The prediction was sealed at 2:10PM on Friday September 12th, 2008.

Ottawa “mentalist” Blair Robertson is inviting spectators to watch him make his federal election prediction. The stage hypnotist has a strong track record in charting past elections. In 1995, he accurately predicted the Progressive Conservative majority in the Ontario election and was just one off the correct seat count. This, even though he made his prognostication at the beginning of the campaign, when the Liberals had an early lead. His prediction was kept in a sealed envelope at the Citizen and opened only after the vote.
This year, he’ll be stashing his picks in a safe at the Chapters bookstore on Rideau Street on Friday at 2 p.m.
How Does He Do It?
“Predicting the election is pretty statistical,” he said. “I just use my intuition.”
Although early signs point to a Conservative win, Mr. Robertson believes that outcome isn’t pre-ordained: “I think this is going to be one of the most exciting roller-coaster rides ever.”
His prediction will remain secret until Oct. 15.
Early predictions
Guelph Mercury–”Mindreader” Blair Robertson will be predicting the outcome of the election on Sept. 12 in Ottawa.
In a press release, Robertson says his prediction will be locked away at the Chapters bookstore in downtown Ottawa.
The mindreader and hypnotist says he managed to correctly predict the 1993 federal election, “right down to the number of seats in a sealed case held by the Ottawa Sun” which landed him the nickname, “Ottawa’s psychic pundit.”
“It’s part of my shows and it’s a fun challenge,” he said in the release.
Hypnotist Blair Robertson recently appeared on the Jon Dore Comedy Show. It was a lot of fun…
When Ottawa Ontario hypnotist and mindreader Blair Robertson stepped onto the stage at Carleton University, it marked his 17th year of performing at the University and his 26th year of performing as a stage hypnotist.
“I’m doing what I love,” he says, noting that most people go through life doing jobs that they dislike just to make a living.
The show lasted two-hours, the first half featuring incredible feats of mind reading. He told audience members to think of personal thoughts and then started calling out names, dates, places… and even told one young lady that her first pet was a Golden Retriever named “Molson”. Robertson went on to give funny explanations that he has been given as to how he does it, from hidden cameras to mind x-ray machines.
He then invited 40 members of the audience to participate in an outrageously funny hypnosis show that was clean and tasteful.
“They bring me in every year because I only do clean material that doesn’t offend,” says Robertson. He points out that he has nothing against “blue material” performers, he just chooses to be clean.
“Years ago, if you wanted to be different, you did a dirty show. Today, I’m ‘unique’ because my show is clean! Weird, isn’t it?” he says laughingly.
He’s not limited to performing in Ontario. Hypnotist Blair Robertson has been around the world with his talent recently performing in New Zealand for a private corporation as well as a private home.
How long will he perform for? “As long as there are audiences that want to see me,” he says.
